Award-Winning Post Secondary

With its main campus in Cranbrook, College of the Rockies (COTR) is an award-winning facility that works closely with our industry to create employment opportunities and continually adapts to meet the needs of the region’s employers. The College of the Rockies has invested millions of dollars into our local community and the implementation of new training programs, with a strong focus on the trades industry.

In 2020 COTR invested over $20 Million into their Students residence in order to be able to house more students and support their growth.

Steady talent pipeline

In addition to the $20M student residence expansion the College of the Rockies (COTR) has expanded its
course curriculum to build a skilled regional workforce with practical and applicable skills for the future.

In September COTR launched a two-year Autonomous Systems Technician diploma program, which was developed in collaboration with Teck Resources Limited and Canada’s Digital Technology Supercluster.

COTR also partnered with Skymount to introduce a Drone Operator Program. The programs aim to prepare and create talented technicians to meet the developing needs of the region, particularly as new technology emerges.

“College of the Rockies offers the whole range of advanced education programs from nursing to trades to business and technology. And we are eager to partner! We have designed programs to meet the needs of learners at all stages of their careers, and to provide a skills pipeline for every employer in the region.”

Paul Vogt, President, College of the Rockies

We serve a regional population of close to 83,000 people, guided by our mission, vision and values and through the leadership of our President and Board of Governors. Each year, COTR provides instruction in a wide variety of programs to approximately 2100 full-time equivalent (FTE) students, including close to 200 international (FTE) students from more than 30 countries.

Cranbrook is home to two campuses: The main campus houses the majority of the administrative departments and student services, and the Gold Creek campus offers a variety of trades programs.
